Washington, D.C. is a city where American history, government, and national treasures come together. During ten full days, we immersed ourselves in the nation’s capital, exploring its monuments, museums, memorials, and historic neighborhoods from morning until evening.

Some of the most memorable experiences included a guided tour of the White House, obtaining our own Library of Congress Reader Identification Cards, and enjoying a rare visit to the U.S. Capitol, made possible through passes arranged by Senator Jon Ossoff. We watched Senate proceedings from the Senate Gallery, toured the Capitol, and gained a deeper appreciation for the work of the nation’s government.

At Arlington National Cemetery, we witnessed the moving Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the solemn wreath ceremony—one of the most unforgettable moments of the trip. We also rode the elevator to the top of the Washington Monument, taking in spectacular panoramic views of the National Mall and the city beyond.

From the Smithsonian museums and national memorials to neighborhoods, parks, and historic landmarks, we packed nearly every day from sunrise to sunset. Even after ten busy days, Washington, D.C. left us feeling there was still more to discover, making it one of the most rewarding and inspiring journeys we’ve taken.
